Aspiring

$900.00

Acrylic on Canvas ready to hang.
30×40

At the end of February I was lucky enough to have an artist residency. A place all my own to paint to my heart’s delight. As the days got longer and just a bit warmer, my thoughts went to spring.

Aspiring began with a free-style application of paint from a squeeze bottle and from there I used black india ink to create large, loose marks with pine needles. Then, I created a large red mark that I answered with green. From there, I used a palette knife to apply a buttery yellow and then started my dance until I felt it was complete.

These three large pieces that I made in the residency have a fresh energy to them and quite a bit of white space, which I think helps the viewer to imagine themselves into the space. A space to aspire to dream, to hope, to live our best lives.
